Ko Chang

The thing is; I went for a walk today. Outside of Porns the island isn’t that special. It reminds me in some ways of Ko Lanta. It will soon be overdeveloped with all the wrong people coming here. It will be awful by all means but as long as Porn doesn’t change it is a paradise.
I am here for a good 3 days and already everyone greets me like an old friend. I m treated like someone who is coming here for many years. I like that. The guys are as chilled out as you would expect. They are also chaotic und utterly useless when it comes to running the place but none of it matters. Everything fits perfectly starting with bamboo huts ending with the always perfect music.
The music playing tells you a lot about a place. If they anticipate the taste of their customers and playing it at the right level you immediately feel at home. What I like even more is when they try rather hard not to attract the wrong people.
We were sitting on one of the porches on the beach when a bunch of tourists arrived; the type you expect in fancy places built of concrete; sterile and ugly. Theses guys were in many ways hilarious by being so tourist. They immediately compared the restaurant to an Italian place in Pattaya that was so much better and they could do fish on a plate. Just the way they talked about we cracked up laughing. The staff, while staying professional, made it in experience for these people that they will never come back. Bravo.
Other than that we are hanging out, lying on pillows and exchanging thoughts. At some stage a guitar appeared out of nowhere and another of these famous nights started. You know when you simply want it to never ever end. t then end as usual the mighty Chang determined the course so by 2 o’clock we all went to bed but it felt really well to be part of such an event. When the right people meet one cannot go wrong.
By the way today I heard from a reliable source that there are elephants on Ko Chang so may be they didn’t name it after beer after all. A pity, I liked the idea.
