Golfing holidays

Golf is a hugely popular sport around the world, and many people find that their ideal holiday is combining sightseeing and relaxation with a few rounds.

For a great many golfers, who are members of a local course and only ever play there, a holiday gives them the chance to test their skills on a new course.

There are lots of specialist golf breaks available, in the UK and abroad, that allow you to play at a different course every day if you choose.

What can make a golfing trip even more special, though, is to play at one of the best known courses in the country.

Those people who have only ever seen the likes of Carnoustie, Birkdale and The Belfry on TV have no doubt daydreamed of one day being able to play such courses where the Open Championship or the Ryder Cup have been staged.

At the same time, you can choose to stay in the same hotels used by the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

These hotels, which are next to the courses themselves, boast wonderful facilities and invariably some excellent views over the course.

This page will give you ideas of the hotels you will want to stay in but there is a host of different options in the UK and abroad.

Memories are still fresh of Europe’s triumph in the 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor, a venue in South Wales. A beautiful part of the country near to golf hot spots!
